MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/08/12 -- Maginatics Inc., The Modern Enterprise Storage Company, today announced a new version of the MagFS storage software platform, offering even greater back end storage and mobile access options for its customers.
For customers wishing to leverage public cloud storage, MagFS now integrates with HP Cloud Services Object Storage, Rackspace Cloud Files, Microsoft Azure, Telecom Italia Data Space and AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service, augmenting previously announced support for Amazon Web Services S3. For enterprises and service providers building their own private or public cloud, MagFS now integrates with EMC Atmos and OpenStack Object Storage (Swift), the two leading object-based storage offerings.
The new MagFS version also introduces native support for devices running the Android operating system. With previously announced support for iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux (experimental), MagFS now enables secure and efficient connectivity to centrally-managed corporate data from all leading mobile and traditional devices.
"MagFS delivers a new form of storage virtualization designed specifically for the modern, distributed enterprise," said Jay Kistler, CTO of Maginatics. "On the back end, MagFS makes the level of data security and IT control independent of whether data is stored in the cloud, on-premises or both. On the front end, MagFS makes the efficiency of data access independent of device class or end-user location. The new support we're announcing today enhances this unique value proposition."
Deployed in the enterprise data center, the MagFS software platform enables concurrent real-time access to centrally-managed data from mobile and traditional devices at enterprise scale, and allows IT organizations to leverage the economics and agility of cloud storage without changing their security or management model, workflows, toolsets or software. MagFS uses an "on-premises" security model with familiar workflows and toolsets regardless of whether data is stored in the public cloud, on-premises or both. Data stored in MagFS is actually more secure than data in most enterprise data centers.
With its modular, extensible architecture and all-software, on-premises deployment model, MagFS is also the ideal foundation for service providers who wish to build storage-centric enterprise services for their clients across a broad range of industries including healthcare, financial services, media and entertainment, architecture/engineering/construction, manufacturing and telecommunications.
"At this moment, all the big players in the cloud services and telco industries are selecting their technology partner for enterprise file sharing, which makes the Maginatics offering very timely," said Philippe Tripodi, Founder and CEO of Archebit, an Italian system integrator and Maginatics preferred partner in that region. "Maginatics offers a genuinely unique approach that perfectly matches the needs of these industry players."
