Paessler publica una versión de PRTG de 64 bits

A partir de ahora administradores pueden recurrir a la versión de 64 bits del software de monitorización de PRTG (www.es.paessler.com), al monitorizar entornos de red cada vez más complejos. Gracias a este desarrollo, el proceso principal ya no será limitado a tres gigabytes, lo que favorece la estabilidad y el rendimiento de las instalaciones de gran tamaño. Asimismo, los nuevos tipos de sensores desarrollados para la versión más reciente de PRTG ofrecen más posibilidades de monitorización.

Al igual que todos los programas de 32 bits, PRTG solo podía utilizar un máximo de tres gigabytes. Por este motivo, las instalaciones estaban generalmente limitadas a unos 10,000 sensores. Dicho límite se amplía con la versión actual de PRTG, ya que ahora el servidor principal se suministra como sistema binario de 32 bits (para Windows de 32 bits) y como sistema binario de 64 bits. Así, en un equipo con versión de Windows de 64 bits, PRTG puede utilizar toda la memoria disponible del ordenador central. De esta manera, Paessler aumenta la recomendación sobre la cantidad máxima de sensores a 20,000. Para redes de gran tamaño ahora solo se necesitan la mitad de licencias o instalaciones de PRTG.

"En el marco del desarrollo continuo de nuestro software de monitorización de red (palabras clave: Continuous Rollout), nos basaremos en esta versión y la seguiremos mejorando durante los próximos meses", explica Dirk Paessler, director ejecutivo de Paessler AG. "Lo que significa que en algún momento del futuro serán posibles instalaciones aún mayores. En estos momentos estamos realizando pruebas con 50,000 sensores en nuestro laboratorio de prueba".

Más de 150 tipos de sensores a elegir

Actualmente, el especialista en monitorización de redes ha aumentado su gama de sensores a más de 150 tipos diferentes para satisfacer las más diversas finalidades de uso. Según la necesidad, se pueden "hilar" redes de supervisión de malla estrecha que trasmiten información de monitorización detallada y metódica. Este tipo de configuración precisa de sensores puede ser administrada de manera profesional hasta en un ámbito de redes complejo.
