Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: BIRT), The BIRT Company™ – delivering more insights to more people than all BI companies combined – today announced that ActuateOne® is now certified on CDH4 (Cloudera’s Distribution Including Apache Hadoop Version 4). ActuateOne is a BI platform and suite of interactive applications, based on BIRT, that enable developers and end users to create and customize analysis and visualizations of traditional and Big Data from virtually any source.
ActuateOne’s flexible approach to connect to and merge an array of Big Data sources, combined with Hadoop’s data scalability, enables organizations to build information applications that facilitate more effective and collaborative decision making. CDH is a 100-percent open source distribution that combines Apache Hadoop with other open source applications within the Hadoop stack to deliver advanced, enterprise-grade features, and is the world’s most widely deployed distribution of Apache Hadoop in commercial and non-commercial environments. Through its integration with CDH, ActuateOne now makes it easier for organizations to attain value from Big Data – data that is too large to manage using existing database management tools – whether that data is structured, unstructured, device- or activity-generated – for example data from social networks.
“Actuate’s goal is to support our customers’ needs for Big Data architecture – from accessing, to visualizing and analyzing, to operationalizing data for insights that can improve any organization’s bottom line,” said Nobby Akiha, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Actuate. “We are pleased that, as a Cloudera Certified Technology, Actuate can provide best-in-class support to the two million BIRT developers worldwide who can use ActuateOne and CDH4 to develop analysis and visualization applications.”
Actuate also announced that it has joined the Cloudera Certified Technology program, which makes it simpler for Apache Hadoop technology buyers to purchase the right cluster components and software applications to extract the most value from their data. Clusters that leverage CDH4 alongside Cloudera Certified Technologies like ActuateOne operate with reduced risk and lower total cost of ownership. Cloudera Certified Technologies have been tested and validated to use supported APIs and to comply with Cloudera development guidelines for integration with Apache Hadoop.
“Building a Hadoop cluster from the ground up can be challenging. There are numerous choices to be made at all levels of the stack, and making those choices can be very complicated. The Cloudera Certified Technology program is designed to make those choices easy and reliable,” said Tim Stevens, Vice President of Corporate and Business Development at Cloudera. “We’re committed to helping enterprises achieve the most from their Big Data initiatives, and we’re pleased that Actuate has completed its certification of ActuateOne on CDH4.”
