NEW YORK, Jan. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Reliant, the market leader in virtualized retail application and data security solutions, announced today the release of its Redbox MultiPlatform, the latest addition to its Redbox Platform product suite. Redbox MultiPlatform offers retail, restaurant and hospitality chains the ability to manage a secure network across many store locations and deliver a wide variety of in-store technologies using multiple operating systems, including Microsoft Windows. Reliant will showcase Redbox MultiPlatform at the National Retail Federation's 102nd Annual Convention & EXPO at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Booth 1983, in New York City through January 16th.

A key feature of Redbox MultiPlatform is its capability to host virtualized instances of Microsoft Windows as a guest operating system (OS), as well as nearly all flavors of Linux and Unix under a Type-1 Hypervisor. This virtualization capability enables businesses to run multiple operating systems on the same platform including Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2003 and 2008. Redbox MultiPlatform is immediately available.
"We are excited to offer retailers a new, cost-effective way to consolidate store systems and significantly enhance their ability to centrally manage their infrastructure," said Reliant Co-Founder and Managing Partner Richard Newman. "Our customers have been looking forward to this solution and it represents a significant milestone in our efforts to simplify, extend and lower the cost of building next-generation retail environments," Newman added.
Completely scalable and capable of being configured across thousands of locations, Redbox MultiPlatform enables customizable options for application hosting at individual store locations. Redbox MultiPlatform uses the same management infrastructure as Reliant's Redbox Platform, which addresses Linux virtualization, and can allow both solutions to co-exist in a single environment.
The Redbox Platform product suite consolidates multiple systems in a virtualized environment, resulting in reduced store systems complexity, simplified support, improved reliability and reduced costs. Redbox Platform can run VoIP, Digital Signage, Interactive Kiosk, DVR, Guest Wifi, Point-of-Sale, Payment Applications, Music and more as virtual machines on a single piece of hardware.
About Reliant: Reliant transforms IT's approach to delivering and supporting store systems by allowing retailers to create an in-store private cloud. This allows a wide range of application, systems and network configurations to be centrally delivered, managed and maintained, reducing ongoing support costs and eliminating the need for equipment to otherwise run each application. This highly flexible and secure architecture in turn enables retail executives to keep pace with 21st century customer-engaging applications.
