SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/24/13 -- MapR Technologies, Inc., the Hadoop technology leader, announced today that Senior Principal Technologist Keys Botzum will be a featured speaker at Telecom Analytics: Big Data Tools for Real-time Analysis and Decision Making, taking place on January 30 - 31, 2013 at the Westin Atlanta Airport Hotel, in Atlanta, Georgia.
The session titled: "Big Data Drivers: Why Hadoop will be Part of Telecom's Analytics," will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. ET. Mr. Botzum will explore why Big Data techniques are touching every industry and will discuss use cases relevant to the telecommunications industry. Mobile call records, sensor data, social media, clickstreams are all data sources that present rich opportunities for improving revenue and optimizing costs. Using Big Data and Hadoop, carriers are able to unlock the value previously hidden deep in data to improve decision-making and gain a competitive edge.
Mr. Botzum has over 15 years of experience in large scale distributed system design and has worked with a variety of distributed technologies, including Sun RPC, DCE, CORBA, Java EE, AFS, and DFS. Recently, he has been focusing on Hadoop and related technologies.
Tim Eckard, a director at Zaloni, a Big Data services company that works closely with companies to create IT efficiencies, will assist in presenting two telecommunications use cases.
