MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS – Rightware®, the leader in user interface (UI) design and implementation software, and Imagination Technologies, a leading multimedia and communications technologies company, are collaborating with the innovation consulting firm RKS to demonstrate the next-generation of graphical user interfaces developed to show off the power of the Kanzi UI solution and the power of Imagination’s PowerVR™ graphics technology.
This new demo is the first to fully leverage the capabilities of the Kanzi Studio. The demo is running on Imagination’s PowerVR Series6 technology featuring fully integrated multimedia hardware acceleration. Demonstrations of the “Let’s Get Away” demo powered by Rightware’s Kanzi UI solution and Imagination’s PowerVR Series6 GPU technology will be on display at Imagination’s stand at MWC, Hall 7 #I110, and Rightware’s stand, Hall 5 #5E90.
The demo is also the first design that Rightware has developed in partnership with the leading strategic design agency, RKS. The two companies announced that they had formed strategic partnership in Interactive Design for new and emerging market including entertainment, tablets, smart TVs and other embedded verticals.
”RKS sees Kanzi as being a significant opportunity to advance user interaction,” stated Ravi Sawhney, founder and CEO of RKS. “By combining forces with Rightware, we are pushing the real-life applications of the tool while advancing the state of the art in creating new interactive experiences.”
“We are extremely pleased to be able to present our new UI demo at MWC with Imagination Technology,” stated Tero Sarkkinen, President of Rightware. “Over the last two months we have presented and demonstrated our Kanzi UI solution to a number of partners and customers, as well as several press and analysts, and have received very strong and positive feedback. This demonstration is a radical departure from anything currently on the market for UIs.”
Kanzi solution consists of a powerful Kanzi Studio, a UI content creation tool, with a resource efficient cross platform graphics and user interface runtime, Kanzi Engine, in one complete package. This is a complete solution for rapid creation and immediate deployment of advanced 2D and 3D graphical user interfaces for mobile phones, tablets, automotive, set-top-box, smart TV, and other embedded devices.
”Kanzi is a powerful enabling technology for creating advanced UIs in the mobile and tablet markets,” said Tony King-Smith, Executive Vice President, Marketing at Imagination Technologies. “When utilizing the advanced features of PowerVR Series6 GPUs, consumers are able to get a mobile experience that is generally associated with advanced desktops or games consoles. Those that visit our booth will see first hand the exceptional user experiences and innovation unleashed by Kanzi on PowerVR-based platforms.”
PowerVR graphics IP cores lead the market for graphics acceleration for gaming, user interfaces, personal navigation and multimedia browsing in mobile phones.
“Imagination has a long legacy of delivering advanced graphical intellectual property, which has had an impact in the mobile and tablet market. Their technology has played a key role in driving, not just the take up of graphical applications, such as games and location-based services, but also the graphical user interfaces that manage those applications,” stated Sarkkinen. “We are thrilled to be working with Imagination by providing the User Interface software technology to demonstrate the power of the Imagination’s latest PowerVR Series6 GPUs.

A strange thing is happening along the way to the Internet of Things, namely far too many devices to work with and manage. It has become clear that we'll need much higher efficiency user experiences that can allow us to more easily and scalably work with the thousands of devices that will soon be in each of our lives. Enter the conversational interface revolution, combining bots we can literally talk with, gesture to, and even direct with our thoughts, with embedded artificial intelligence, wh...

Ask someone to architect an Internet of Things (IoT) solution and you are guaranteed to see a reference to the cloud. This would lead you to believe that IoT requires the cloud to exist. However, there are many IoT use cases where the cloud is not feasible or desirable. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Dave McCarthy, Director of Products at Bsquare Corporation, will discuss the strategies that exist to extend intelligence directly to IoT devices and sensors, freeing them from the constraints of ...

Web Real-Time Communication APIs have quickly revolutionized what browsers are capable of. In addition to video and audio streams, we can now bi-directionally send arbitrary data over WebRTC's PeerConnection Data Channels. With the advent of Progressive Web Apps and new hardware APIs such as WebBluetooh and WebUSB, we can finally enable users to stitch together the Internet of Things directly from their browsers while communicating privately and securely in a decentralized way.

Information technology is an industry that has always experienced change, and the dramatic change sweeping across the industry today could not be truthfully described as the first time we've seen such widespread change impacting customer investments. However, the rate of the change, and the potential outcomes from today's digital transformation has the distinct potential to separate the industry into two camps: Organizations that see the change coming, embrace it, and successful leverage it; and...

Complete Internet of Things (IoT) embedded device security is not just about the device but involves the entire product’s identity, data and control integrity, and services traversing the cloud. A device can no longer be looked at as an island; it is a part of a system. In fact, given the cross-domain interactions enabled by IoT it could be a part of many systems. Also, depending on where the device is deployed, for example, in the office building versus a factory floor or oil field, security ha...

Fifty billion connected devices and still no winning protocols standards. HTTP, WebSockets, MQTT, and CoAP seem to be leading in the IoT protocol race at the moment but many more protocols are getting introduced on a regular basis. Each protocol has its pros and cons depending on the nature of the communications. Does there really need to be only one protocol to rule them all? Of course not. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Chris Matthieu, co-founder and CTO of Octoblu, walk you through how Oct...

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, will compare the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, e...
