SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/28/13 -- Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ: FNSR) today introduced the WaveAnalyzer 1500S High-Resolution Optical Spectrum Analyzer. The WaveAnalyzer 1500S provides a unique combination of ultra-high resolution and high-speed spectral analysis making it ideal for Research & Development as well as Production applications. This optical test instrument utilizes coherent detection and offers sub-picometer wavelength resolution across the entire C-band of optical communication systems. For example, a full C-band scan with 20 MHz spectral resolution takes only 1/4 of a second while a detailed spectral analysis of a 100 GHz window can be obtained in under 25 milliseconds.
This combination of fast measurement speed, high sensitivity, and low noise floor arising from the use of coherent detection dramatically cuts test time. In addition, it enables R&D engineers and scientists to obtain more accurate results in less time. The WaveAnalyzer 1500S has a very small footprint and low power consumption, simplifying its integration into lab and production test systems.
Finisar also announced today the availability of the WaveShaper 100S Tunable Optical Filter. This new filter has been optimized for use in production test applications where the precise control over the filter bandwidth and center frequency ensures support for current test requirements as well as next generation Flexgrid-based networks and subsystems. For test development, the WaveShaper 100S can be controlled using Finisar's intuitive WaveManager graphical user interface. In high-throughput test environments, the simple Application Programming Interface supports both Windows and Linux.
The complete WaveShaper family of programmable optical filters, including the WaveAnalyzer 1500S, will be on display at OFC/NFOEC from March 19-21 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Finisar's booth #2405.
WaveShaper Workshop at OFC/NFOEC
On Monday, March 18 Finisar will conduct a WaveShaper Workshop at OFC/NFOEC. This free workshop will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center and will focus on recent advances in programmable optical filtering.
