Pythian has launched the Delphic Lab, a virtual training facility for Pythian employees to test, learn, and configure data environments. Pythian is a global data management consulting company that specializes in planning, deploying, and managing mission-critical data infrastructures. The new Delphic Lab provides Pythian employees with hands-on training, testing, and research in virtual database and cloud environments in order to develop the skills, methodologies, and best practices they need to ensure high availability and performance of customers’ data infrastructures.
The Delphic Lab includes a private cloud, a shared Hadoop cluster for Big Data applications, and an Oracle Database Appliance. Employees can test and validate environments before deployment, troubleshoot problems, and create proof of concept data infrastructures for new customers and prospects.
“As demand for appliances, Big Data, and cloud infrastructures increase, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest level of skill, expertise, and service to protect their most valued business asset—their data,” said Alex Gorbachev, CTO of Pythian. “This requires a commitment to training and providing our employees with access to the latest technology. The Delphic Lab will allow our employees to stay current with best practices in areas such as database security, high availability, performance, storage, consolidation, and complex database deployments to better serve our customers and their data management needs.”
The Delphic Lab hosts almost 200 CPU cores, 1.5 TB of RAM, and offers 132 TB of raw storage. A self-service portal allows employees to provision any database platform in just a few minutes. These virtual machines can be used for training and testing of software features and beta product releases. Pythian will continue to add new functionality and technology to the lab to support the education and development of its workforce.
