With significant North American adoption of the enterprise-grade Hortonworks Data Platform, Hortonworks is now bringing the ability to capture, process and share data in any format and at scale to the European market. Since its inception, Hortonworks has focused its efforts to develop, distribute and support a 100-percent open source distribution of Apache Hadoop, which enables the company to deliver unmatched expertise and solutions to the global Hadoop ecosystem.
Hortonworks’ European infrastructure is already established, supporting more than 25 customers with employees on the ground across Europe. In addition, key global partnerships with companies such as Microsoft, Teradata and Rackspace are enabling Hortonworks to rapidly grow and support its European customer base.
As part of its European expansion, Hortonworks will host the first and largest European conference focused exclusively on accelerating the enterprise adoption of Apache Hadoop, Hadoop Summit Europe, on March 20-21, 2013 in Amsterdam. The event has garnered a great deal of interest from the European enterprise community and a large turnout is expected. “The European market is aggressively looking for solutions that enable the processing and analysis of big data, and Apache Hadoop presents an enterprise-grade platform for harnessing the power of this information,” said Herb Cunitz, president, Hortonworks. “We are seeing organizations across the globe choose the 100-percent open source Hortonworks Data Platform to prevent vendor lock-in and ensure that their big data strategies can quickly scale for future growth. We look forward to connecting with European Hadoop users to help broaden the reach of the Hadoop ecosystem to more markets across the globe.”
