CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hadapt, the only data analytics platform natively integrating SQL with Apache Hadoop, has named Jit Saxena to its Board of Directors. Saxena was co-founder, CEO, and Chairman of Netezza, which pioneered the analytic database appliance and developed technology for complex analytics on large, diverse data volumes. Jit led Netezza from inception until January 2009, then served as Chairman until its acquisition by IBM in 2010 for approximately $1.7 billion.
"I am thrilled to add such a distinguished industry visionary to our Board. Jit pioneered a market with Netezza, and his expertise in the database and analytics domain will be invaluable as we continue to expand our thought and market leadership in the emerging SQL on Hadoop ecosystem," said Hadapt CEO Justin Borgman.
Christopher Lynch, Partner at Atlas Venture, commented, "The Big Data market has shown significant growth and validation over the last 12 months; it's already a $100 billion market and poised to expand exponentially in the coming years. The addition of Jit to our Board should help demystify who will become the dominant player in this burgeoning ecosystem. Jit is the Godfather of the Big Data movement and will be the perfect complement to an already strong board."
"By natively integrating SQL with Hadoop, Hadapt makes it much easier for businesses to advance Hadoop projects from the lab to production," said Saxena. "This gives business analysts the ability to interact with Big Data on Hadoop for actionable insights and competitive advantage while freeing data scientists for more complex analytics and coding tasks. I'm looking forward to advising the Hadapt team and continuing to apply my experience to the Big Data industry."
Prior to Netezza Jit founded Applix, a leading decision support software company. Jit led Applix to a successful IPO in 1994 and the company was acquired by Cognos/IBM in 2004.
