GroundWork stellt mit LogHub Beta eine Kombination aus Unified Monitoring & Logdatei-Analyse vor

GoundWork LogHub Beta 1 integriert Open Source Elasticsearch ELK Stack und schließt damit Monitoring-Lücke

SAN FRANCISCO - 02. April, 2014 - GroundWork, Inc. (www.gwos.de), führender Anbieter von Unified-Monitoring-Lösungen für IT Operations Management und Cloud Monitoring, hat heute das erste Beta-Programm des neuen GroundWork LogHub angekündigt, das eine oder mehrere Logdatei-Analyse-Lösungen in GroundWork Monitor Enterprise integriert. Die Verknüpfung von Unified Monitoring und Logdatei-Analyse ermöglicht eine schnellere Fehlerbehebung, eine verbesserte Ursachenanalyse und effektivere IT-Ereigniskorrelation und forensische Datenanalyse. Damit wird eine oft noch bestehende Monitoring-Lücke geschlossen und ein umfassender Überblick über die Infrastruktur und Anwendungen gewährleistet.

GroundWork LogHub Beta 1 ist an die Open-Source-Lösung Elasticsearch ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana und logstash) gekoppelt. Um eine nahtlose Visualisierung neben anderen Monitoring-Daten bieten zu können, werden Datensuche, -Anzeige und -Filterfunktionen nativ innerhalb des GroundWork Monitor Portals UI angezeigt.

Zukünftige Versionen des GroundWork LogHub werden voraussichtlich die Integration mit anderen beliebten Logdatei-Analyse-Tools, wie AppFirst, Sumo Logic und Splunk miteinschließen.

Anfang des Jahres befragte GroundWork fast 400 seiner User, wie wichtig ihnen die Verknüpfung der Fähigkeit zur Logdatei-Analyse mit der Unified-Monitoring-Lösung des Unternehmens ist.

Die wichtigsten Ergebnisse der Studie:

  • 37 Prozent der Nutzer von Unified Monitoring überprüfen ihre IT-Logs mit Hilfe der manuellen Textsuche; 33 Prozent benutzen bereits Logdatei-Analyse-Software dafür
  • 96 Prozent finden es wichtig, Log-Field-Daten mit anderen Monitoring-Ereignisdaten in eine einzige Suchfunktion und/oder Dashboard zusammenführen zu können
  • 42 Prozent der Nutzer gaben an, dass sie nicht genug Zeit haben um ihre IT-Logdateien zu analysieren; 18 Prozent sagten, die Kosten seien zu hoch

Diese Ergebnisse bestätigen die Ergebnisse des neuesten Berichts von Gartner "Modernisieren Sie Ihre Monitoring-Strategie indem Sie Unified Monitoring und Logdatei-Analyse-Tools verbinden" zum Thema wie man heutige komplexe und dynamische IT-Umgebungen besser verwaltet.

Laut Gartner sind "IT-Umgebungen heutzutage aufgrund fortschrittlicherer Infrastruktur und Investitionen in die Virtualisierung zunehmend konvergent und abstrakt. Das hat zur Folge, dass IT-Teams einen breiteren, tieferen und dynamischeren Blick auf den Zustand der Infrastruktur brauchen als je zuvor. Die I&O-Teams in Unternehmen sollten Unified-Monitoring und Logdatei-Analyse-Technologien verbinden, um einfachere, schnellere und kosteneffizientere Ansätze zu finden, die Verfügbarkeit der heutzutage sehr komplexen und dynamischen Umgebungen zu verwalten[1]."

Durch die Integration von GroundWork Monitor Enterprise mit Logdatei-Analyse-Tools bietet GroundWork LogHub:

  • bidirektionalen Datenfluss zwischen GroundWork Monitor und den Logdatei-Analyse-Tools
  • eine Anzeige korrelierter Logfile-basierter Daten in der GroundWork Event-Konsole für die Alarmierung, Anzeige und Reaktion
  • die Möglichkeit, Non-Logfile-Daten, wie Performance- oder Verfügbarkeits-Metriken zu Logdatei-Analyse-Tools zu schieben, um die Suchergebnisse zu verbessern
  • die Möglichkeit, Statusveränderungen, Ausfallzeit-Protokolle und andere Ereignisdaten, die GroundWork generiert, an das Logdatei-Analyse-Tool zu senden, um die Genauigkeit, Präzision und Abdeckung der Logdatei-Analyse sowohl für Ereigniskorrelation als auch für forensische Datenanalysen zu verbessern
  • verbesserte Skalierbarkeit und optimiertes Monitoring der Big-Data-Systeme durch die Verwendung eines verteilten Logdatei-Analyse-Tools zum Sammeln und zur Korrelation der Logdateien und so eine deutlich verbesserte Korrelations-Logik zwischen Logdateien und anderen Monitoring-Ereignissen

Bidirektionale Integration erlaubt die Darstellung gefilterter Logfile-Vorgänge (in diesem Fall von Logstash) in der GroundWork Event-Konsole neben anderen Typen von Monitoring-Ereignissen. Das Ergebnis ist einfaches Management, unmittelbare Benachrichtigung und Eskalierung.

Nicht alle Operating Systems oder Applikationen generieren Logs in einem Standardtextformat. In diesem Beispiel wurden Windows Logdaten automatisch durch GroundWork Monitor erfasst, um anschließend in das Elsaticsearch ELK-Portfolio zum einfacheren textbasierten Filtern und Sortieren weitergeleitet zu werden. Das Kibana User Interface ist nahtlos in das größere GroundWork Monitor-Portal eingebunden.
