Cumulus Networks, the company bringing the power of Linux to networking, today announced the global expansion of its channel partner program that now covers three regions – North America, Asia Pacific (including Australia) and EMEA. Since starting the program nine months ago with presence only in the western United States, the program has evolved to include a diverse range of channel partners spanning eight countries in three major geographies, with one common goal: bringing the open revolution to the network.
The newly expanded program reaffirms the clear demand for an approach to networking from organizations of all sizes across the globe and throughout various business segments. The expansion of Cumulus Networks’ channel presence allows partners to extend the solutions that work on the server side to the network, and offer a modern networking stack that has been designed and optimized for “next generation” data centers – eliminating massive costs and resources associated with traditional stack offerings from incumbent vendors along with each vendor’s own proprietary lock-in. Channel partners are also able to provide system integration and consulting services such as planning, designing and implementing the company’s technology within demanding customer environments.
“Working with our partners in the channel, we’ve seen an explosive demand for flexible and modern data center infrastructure,” said Reza Malekzadeh, Vice President of Business, Cumulus Networks. “Our platform allows companies to leverage those building blocks at the software layer while enabling a broad ecosystem of third-party vendors that can be further integrated by the channel. We’re committed to expanding our footprint through our value added reseller community across the globe to help relieve the burden of vendor lock-in.”
Cumulus Networks continues to grow its channel community as more partners realize the benefits of expanding existing datacenter technology offerings to offer networking with the benefits Linux. The Cumulus Networks partner program offers a generous discounting structure, a simple deal registration program, and a collaborative sales and support model that rewards the company’s channel partners and helps them build a long-lasting practice for the next era in networking.

“Thanks to the alignment with Cumulus Networks and the advantage of a pure Linux model, Penguin Computing has successfully established a holistic data center portfolio of solutions with a unified approach through compute, storage and networking,” said Tom Coull, CEO, Penguin Computing. “Thus far we have successfully deployed the Cumulus Networks solution at several customers and have built a strong pipeline to pursue with our joint offerings. We look forward to the continued collaboration with Cumulus Networks to extend the benefit of open networking to our customers.”
“The traditional purchasing pattern for networking infrastructure – purchasing all equipment from one vendor and tweaking that stack to suit specific needs – is no longer acceptable for our customers who are looking for infrastructures that have been designed specifically to meet the demands of their own environments,” said Mark Whithouse, Managing Director at INFRX. “Working with Cumulus Networks, we’re able to help our customers design, implement and integrate an infrastructure that is deliberately architected for the challenges they face every day. As a result, we’re able to grow our business beyond a transactional relationship to become a true partner to our customers.”
“When it comes to next-generation data center builds, bare metal networking is increasingly becoming top of mind for our customers,” said Ayaz Rathore, Managing Director at R-Com Consulting. “Partnering with Cumulus Networks and offering the company’s native Linux networking platform gives us an edge in provide our customers with tools that complement our existing compute, storage and virtualization products, thereby allowing them to create modern and flexible infrastructures that fit their needs for the new era.”
About Cumulus Networks
Cumulus Networks is bringing the Linux revolution to networking. Founded by veteran networking engineers from Cisco and VMware, Cumulus Networks makes the first Linux operating system for networking hardware and fills a critical gap in realizing the true promise of the software-defined data center. Just as Linux completely transformed the economics and innovation on the server side of the data center, Cumulus Linux will do the same for the network. It is radically reducing the costs and complexities of operating modern data center networks for service providers and enterprises. Cumulus Networks has received venture funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Battery Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Peter Wagner and four of the original VMware founders. As more intelligent IoT applications shift into gear, they’re merging into the ever-increasing traffic flow of the Internet. It won’t be long before we experience bottlenecks, as IoT traffic peaks during rush hours. Organizations that are unprepared will find themselves by the side of the road unable to cross back into the fast lane. As billions of new devices begin to communicate and exchange data – will your infrastructure be scalable enough to handle this new interconnected world?

WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome,” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
