WANdisco's Non-Stop Hadoop for Oracle Big Data Appliance Achieves Oracle Big Data Appliance Ready Status

WANdisco's Non-Stop Hadoop Is Supported and Ready to Run on Oracle Big Data Appliance

SAN RAMON, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/17/14 -- In a significant advance to its distribution channel strategy, WANdisco (LSE: WAND) has successfully completed certification with Oracle, enabling its Non-Stop Hadoop software to run on Oracle Big Data Appliance.

WANdisco's Non-Stop Hadoop for Oracle Big Data Appliance version 1.9 achieves Oracle Big Data Appliance Ready status through Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), demonstrating that WANdisco supports Non-Stop Hadoop for Oracle Big Data Appliance version 1.9 with Oracle Big Data Appliance and Oracle Linux. WANdisco is a Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork.

Our support of Oracle Big Data Appliance reflects the ongoing adoption of Hadoop by enterprise customers that want to use Hadoop in production environments to capture and analyze large volumes of unstructured data. It has been given additional impetus by the request of one of WANdisco's prospective customers in automotive manufacturing that wants to access Oracle appliances in conjunction with WANdisco's continuous availability layer. Customers like this are concluding that for Big Data to be used for mission-critical applications, it has to be continuously available over a wide area network.

The Oracle Exastack Ready program recognizes WANdisco as having applications that leverage the latest Oracle technology to better support joint customers. Oracle Big Data Appliance Ready is part of the Oracle Exastack Ready program which allows partners, such as WANdisco, to be recognized by Oracle for developing and supporting their applications on Oracle Exadata Database Machine, Oracle SuperCluster, Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine, Oracle Database Appliance or Oracle Big Data Appliance engineered systems. Oracle Big Data Appliance is an engineered system that delivers comprehensive and secure big data capabilities and is integrated, optimized, and tuned to shorten deployment times and reduce cost and risk. Oracle Linux brings the latest Linux innovations to market, delivering extreme performance, advanced scalability, and reliability for enterprise applications and systems, along with worldwide, enterprise-class, low-cost support.

"We are delighted to have achieved Oracle Big Data Appliance Ready status from Oracle. It is a reflection of the accelerating pace at which large enterprises are moving into production with Hadoop data and applications environments," said David Richards, WANdisco Co-Founder and CEO. "WANdisco's Non-Stop Hadoop continuous availability layer can be designed into customers' Big Data infrastructure from the outset, helping the world's most demanding customers meet their requirement for their Big Data operations."

"When partners such as WANdisco leverage the latest component products of Oracle Big Data Appliance as the foundation for their applications, they benefit from a complete, integrated and cloud-ready infrastructure that will help them utilize new features and functionality in a highly innovative fashion," said David Hicks, Vice President, Worldwide ISV and OEM Business Development, Oracle. "By achieving Oracle Big Data Appliance Ready and Oracle Linux Ready status, WANdisco has demonstrated its Non-Stop Hadoop for Oracle Big Data Appliance is supported and ready to work with Oracle Big Data Appliance to help deliver optimum performance, scalability, and reliability to their customers."

A webinar focused on Non-Stop Big Data with Oracle and WANdisco will take place on Wednesday, August 20 at 10:00 am Pacific, featuring presenters from both companies. Attendees will learn how to achieve continuous availability, with maximum performance and optimum scalability for global multi-data center Hadoop deployments. Register here.
