One of World's Largest Electronics Manufacturers to Incorporate Ayla Technology and Services Into NexTurn Home Control Platform and Other Products; Ayla Enabled Connected Products to Begin With Home Control Platform

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - August 14, 2014) - Ayla Networks (www.aylanetworks.com), a leading provider of Agile Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, today announced that Yifang Digital Technology, a leading global manufacturer and innovator of consumer electronics, will use Ayla's cloud services and other technology to power a new line of intelligent products.

The first Ayla-enabled product from Yifang will be the NexTurn Home Control Platform, a starter kit for home automation that will establish new price points for expanding the market. A base set NexTurn devices will launch this year at major retail outlets, to be followed by additional devices, all connecting through a single smart application to iOS or Android devices.

Yifang selected Ayla after a competitive review process that took in to consideration security, compatibility, cost, scalability and other factors. Ayla was selected in part because the company can provide an adaptive platform that supports the connectivity requirements of a broad set of products. Solutions were also evaluated against their ability to provide the end-to-end security and privacy.

"Ayla allows us to get our products out quickly, all leveraging a single platform," said Yin Shujun, Vice President & head of Smart Device Business Unit with Yifang Digital. "The Ayla platform offered us best combination of security, flexibility and costs, as well as enabling us to continuously learn from that data to provide a better experiencer for our users. Ayla's presence in China and ability to provide local support, and ability to scale internationally into all regions we sell, was also a critical factor in our decision making process."

Ayla's mission is to provide the world with the first truly agile platform for the Internet of Things. Ayla achieves its high degree of flexibility through a seamless fabric of interconnected elements, including embedded agents for devices, cloud-based back-end infrastructure and services, and intelligent application libraries.
Ayla collaborates with leading semiconductor and module companies such as Broadcom, STMicroelectronics, USI, NXP Semiconductor and Murata Americas to develop components complete with software compatible with Ayla's cloud that can be purchased in volume through distribution. Ayla has also designed its cloud infrastructure to accommodate a large number of diverse devices simultaneously.

By adopting Ayla's Agile IoT™ platform and technology, Fortune 500 companies to Kickstarter projects can quickly design and develop connected products and move into volume production. Ayla's platform is compatible with the widest possible variety of communication standards and OSes, including leading radio standards such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and operating systems such as Linux, Android, iOS. Enterprise-class security is assured through multi-layer authentication, encryption, and policy control managed through Ayla's cloud services and advanced operational portals.

Built-in data analytics enable real-time learning and a virtual device management system allows manufacturers to quickly react to this learning and modify their products -- even after they are deployed in the field. Enterprise-class features include multi-tiered role based access control, remote firmware update management and customer service visibility tools.

Customers include global producers of air conditioning systems, leading fire and safety equipment vendors and the largest Chinese language web portal in the world as well as emerging innovators in IoT such as LockState and Owlet.

"Leading manufacturers like Yifang Digital are increasingly turning to Ayla Networks because they understand we can enhance their own efforts to provide their customers with innovative products," said David Friedman, CEO and co-founder of Ayla Networks. "With the Ayla platform they can not only improve their speed to market with new and innovative solutions, but it also enables them to collect and analyze usage data to learn how their products are being used and more rapidly innovate to suit their customer and channel partner needs."

Unsecured IoT devices were used to launch crippling DDOS attacks in October 2016, targeting services such as Twitter, Spotify, and GitHub. Subsequent testimony to Congress about potential attacks on office buildings, schools, and hospitals raised the possibility for the IoT to harm and even kill people. What should be done? Does the government need to intervene? This panel at @ThingExpo New York brings together leading IoT and security experts to discuss this very serious topic.
More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smar...
"Dice has been around for the last 20 years. We have been helping tech professionals find new jobs and career opportunities," explained Manish Dixit, VP of Product and Engineering at Dice, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 19th Cloud Expo, held November 1-3, 2016, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
Complete Internet of Things (IoT) embedded device security is not just about the device but involves the entire product’s identity, data and control integrity, and services traversing the cloud. A device can no longer be looked at as an island; it is a part of a system. In fact, given the cross-domain interactions enabled by IoT it could be a part of many systems. Also, depending on where the device is deployed, for example, in the office building versus a factory floor or oil field, security ha...

"At ROHA we develop an app called Catcha. It was developed after we spent a year meeting with, talking to, interacting with senior citizens watching them use their smartphones and talking to them about how they use their smartphones so we could get to know their smartphone behavior," explained Dave Woods, Chief Innovation Officer at ROHA, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 19th Cloud Expo, held November 1-3, 2016, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

The many IoT deployments around the world are busy integrating smart devices and sensors into their enterprise IT infrastructures. Yet all of this technology – and there are an amazing number of choices – is of no use without the software to gather, communicate, and analyze the new data flows. Without software, there is no IT. Whether your IoT service is connecting cars, homes, appliances, wearable, cameras or other devices, one question hangs in the balance – how do you actually make money from this service? The ability to turn your IoT service into profit requires the ability to create a monetization strategy that is flexible, scalable and working for you in real-time. DevOps is being widely accepted (if not fully adopted) as essential in enterprise IT. But as Enterprise DevOps gains maturity, expands scope, and increases velocity, the need for data-driven decisions across teams becomes more acute. DevOps teams in any modern business must wrangle the ‘digital exhaust’ from the delivery toolchain, "pervasive" and "cognitive" computing, APIs and services, mobile devices and applications, the Internet of Things, and now even blockchain.
